Our mountain hut in Alta Badia
Alta Badia - Corvara

The small, brown marmots play happily at the foot of the Settsass massif from which you can also enjoy a wonderful view of the Sella group Dolomite mountain peaks. On a summer day, the marmots either laze away in the sun or spend their time eating tender blades of glass or fresh mountain flowers. You can sometimes even get a glimpse of them near the Corvara mountain huts. If they sense danger approaching though they whistle loudly with their shrill voices and bustle hastily away into their burrows.

A delicate task has always been assigned to the mountain huts in South Tyrol: just like the marmot’s burrow, they must provide refuge and shelter, especially when the weather is bad. This is perhaps why their landlords have lovingly furnished them to make them so cosy and homely.

The La Marmotta mountain hut was built in 2005 with the precise intention of creating a traditional, cosy refuge. The food and drink served here is also typical of this location and entirely homemade using mainly South Tyrolean produce.
